Transfers! So this week I got transferred to Singapore! I will be serving in the Singapore Filipino (Philopinno?) WARD! First ward of my mission. My companion will be Elder Perritt who is from Australia. He is an English speaking missionary. So this should be interesting!
This week, we were doing splits in Miri and Bintulu. Bintulu is a beautiful place.
Special experience.
Jonathan (from kuching) his father passed. Our old Elders quorum president. He played the song I taught him "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing." at his funeral. I only heard about it but it touched my heart.
Hebrews 12:9
Everything is about attitude. Like Dad always used to say. "It is all in your head." But it really is. In missionary work it is the same. If you think you will baptize you will. If you think you will win the basketball game you will. You can change your life inside your head. You are totally in control.
But you need God's help. And that is the ticket!
Love you all,
Elder Pierce

We were riding through permai this week (the more sketchy part of town) and this kid (i don't know if he was all there) was lying on the pavement but when I rode by him he picked up a wooden stick, and took the biggest hardest swing at me. Thankfully he missed but it was a definite wake up call. :)
We were cleaning the baptismal font this week (mopping it up to be specific) and a couple kids were playing "Turn Down For What" on their phones. It took me back like deja vu to last year at LCA. For those of you who know what I am talking about. (shoutout to all my fellow LCA boys).
-JASON! He got baptized this week! I had the privilege of baptizing him! (in chinese of course!)
He 25 years old. Smart, techy and works at a bank in finance. He is going to be a real help as a priesthood holder in the branch. They seem to be harder to find than the women..
We found jason one day, we were waiting for the bus and 3 in a row passed us because they were already full of people. He stopped and offered us a free ride home. We thanked him, by giving him the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been an amazing experience.
God really does throw the people who are prepared in your lap. If you are being diligent of course.
Speaking of being diligent. This week, we talked to every single person we saw. Literally. It was amazing. We got 57 potential investigators. (an address or phone number). You literally cannot tell who is interested. Every single person has such an interesting story.
For all you fellow missionaries out there, try it. I dare you :)
Love you all,
Elder Pierce

p.s. Congrats to my little sister who got baptized this week by my "big" brother. She definitely goes on my key indicators ;)

This week i got kissed by a little kid, i thought he was going for a high five..
that is the first one in a long long time..
-lately i have made a rule for myself. in every meeting to at least make one comment. That gets my mind in the discussion and it is a lot easier then to make a 2nd and 3rd comment. And i have gotten a lot more out of meetings. try it!
-Singapore this week was awesome! Got to talk some more with the new mission president which was fun. really uplifting.
-I played "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" my arrangement of it before the dying missionaries shared their final testimonies. It was touching meeting for sure. It is always very interesting to hear missionaries final thoughts. I love that.
At the beginning of my mission when I went to singapore, all I wanted to do was go see the sights in Singapore but now when we go my desire is to just talk to all the missionaries from the different zones. They all feel like my brothers and i get much more fulfillment from talking to them than from walking around singapore. It has been weird seeing that change in mindset.
This week basketball class got a little crazy. Too many people there and so it ended up me just playing these kids 1 on 4 and if i won they listened to why we were here. I won but the lesson didn't go as well haha :) I played in my proselyting clothes which made it interesting as well.
Sabah missionaries (a different zone) also started a basketball class. Since the idea had real success it has spread :) fast.
Louis was baptized this week! he lives in Brunei (a different country) and so I am excited to go to brunei after my mission to see him!
Jason ( a 25 yr old programmer) is also getting baptized this week and we are super excited for him! this is for sure the most on fire of an area I have ever had!
This was hit hard in Zone conference. One of the best missionary talks i think ever.
you would be dumb not to read it :) Because of Jesus Christ. I can say that I fear no man.
love you all,
Elder Pierce
